rocklab

RockLab is quickly becoming the go-to program for young musicians who want a bit more out of their BRMS experience! Why? Here’s an easy answer to an easy question. It’s cheap, effective, and time-efficient. In other words, it’s the biggest bang for your buck. Also, it’s for students at any age and skill level. Here’s the play by play:

1) Student signs up for a RockLab session with help from mom and dad. Student fills out an online form giving BRMS an idea of his/her skill level and taste in music. Parents and student talk about how quick and easy it was to fill out the form. Everyone is so happy that they all go out for ice cream.

2) Week 1: Student is assigned 2 songs to learn in lessons. Student is so grateful that we picked such awesome songs that he/she vows to one day include a generous donation to BRMS in his/her will.

3) Weeks 2 and 3: Work, work, work. Student realizes that there is more than one way to play a C chord. Student gulps at the idea of having to play a solo. Student sighs with relief when informed that a solo is not required.

4) While student is learning the songs, students in other lessons are learning the same songs in their private lessons. All students are nervous that they aren’t as prepared as any of their mysterious band mates they have yet to meet.

5) Rehearsal 1: Meet and greet, assessment of progress.  Student comes in on a weekend, meets band mates, and starts jamming. All the students sound totally awesome and get along great. Everyone realizes that they are just as unprepared as everyone else, but by the end of rehearsal they are really rocking.  Students begin day dreaming about when they hit it big and play Madison Square Garden.

6) Weeks 4-6: Continued lessons. After the jam session, student returns to his/her lesson with a newfound confidence that causes him/her to learn even faster. Student decides that he/she will definitely thank BRMS in his/her Grammy Award speech in 2020.

7) Rehearsal 2: Boot Camp. This is it, the final prep work for the biggest show of the student’s life. Student briefly thinks about hopping a train to anywhere, but decides he/she has the “juice” to hang in there, give 100% and be successful. Students rock out even more than last rehearsal and are so prepared that they try to convince the instructor to crash an open mic jam that night and steal the show from local professionals.

8) SHOW TIME: All the fears come back for a bit, but then the student remembers the rule of show day, “There’s no stress on show day! Only fun!” Student calms down, gets to the venue, see his or her band mates, and the rest is history. Band jams and gets picked up by a music agent from a major label who just happened to be in Baton Rouge having coffee at the Brew Ha Ha that afternoon. The band hits it big and 2 months later they play a farewell Madison Square Garden show before breaking up the next day.

All joking aside, this is the basic run down of RockLab. 6 weeks of lessons, two rehearsals. One show. All for $100 in addition to monthly lesson fees. Referral discounts awarded. Email contact@brmusicstudios to find out more!
