rocklab is changing!
RockLab will now be open to ALL private lesson students for a flat fee of $50 per semester in addition to standard lesson tuition. Lessons will be the same, but with an added feature of preparing each

student with performance music for a special Rock ‘n’ Roll show at a local venue. As the showcase date approaches, students will be grouped into bands to bring together the performance music they have worked really hard on in private lessons, and rehearsals will take place. The semester will wrap up with a Young Band style Rock show, but open to ALL students, not just Young Band. Take advantage of this great offer!!! Your kids will thank you!

studio closures for the holidays
Just a reminder that the studio will be closed December 23rd-26th and December 31st-January 1st for ALL lessons and December 20th-26th and December 31st-January 1st for RockLab.  Young Band and RockLab lessons WILL continue after their showcases (with the exception of studio closures). thanks dan caro

Thank you Dan for your powerful presentations to OLQH school in Lake Charles, The Dunham School in Baton Rouge, and at the Chapel in the Oaks in Baton Rouge. It was amazing to see the impact you had on our young musicians, and it was an honor for BRMS to sponsor these events. If only every music showcase could include such an inspirational story of faith, love, determination, and using the power within to achieve anything you desire in life. To quote a statement credited to Art E. Berg which you so eloquently paraphrased in your talk, “For while the difficult takes time, the impossible just takes a little longer.” Our students will hear your message in their hearts and minds for years to come as they struggle to master their instruments, and as they face other hardships in their lives. Here are a couple of parent and student reactions to your talk and performance:

“I just wanted to send a BIG THANK YOU to whomever arranged for the speaker that came yesterday.  I think that having speakers talking to our children can be so influential to their sheltered lives.  Maggie was extremely affected by his talk and could barely talk about it without getting emotional.” OLQH Parent

“I just wanted to say “thanks” for having Dan come to our school yesterday!! It was really inspirational to hear what he had to say – and…. I’ve NEVER seen that many students be That quiet for That long!!! Wow! They were obviously amazed as well.” Dunham and BRMS Parent

“I think Dan Caro is one of the most inspiring people I have met in my life so far. He makes me feel like I can do anything. When I am going through a hard time, I am going to think of him.” 7th Grade Dunham Student

Thanks again, Dan. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Next time, we’ll put a band together and JAM!!!!!

two great articles on brms

This month, 225 celebrates is 5th year in production! As we approach our 5th year in 2011, it is only fitting that 225 include a story on our students in their current issue. Jeff Roedel takes his readers through the process our students underwent while writing and recording nine songs onto our first compilation CD entitled “Young Band Nation: Volume I”. Click the 225 logo to the left to read about our program, The Young Band Development Program, THEN move on over to our “programs” link on the right to sign up for our Spring Semester of Young Band. Become a member of the Young Band Nation and receive new and improved benefits, the only program of its kind in Louisiana offering unmatched opportunities to perform, record, and learn!

Two articles in two days! Wow. This article feature BRMS owner, Doug Gay as National NPR Show From the Top talks about his career as a performer, an educator, and as founder of Baton Rouge Music Studios, LLC. The article is part of a new From the Top campaign called “Get on the Map,” which spotlights local musicians who have made an impact in their community. BRMS is getting some national recognition! And it couldn’t have come at a better time, with big improvements being made over the next two month in our facilities including better membership benefits and a fully functioning recording studio!
